Haslam battles to points scoring finishes at Assen

Kawasaki Racing Team's Leon Haslam finished fifth and eighth in the two races of round five of the World Superbike championship at the Assen circuit in the Netherlands at the weekend.

“In both races today, with about eight laps to go in race one, the front tyre grip just went and it became even worse in the second race of the day – with about 11 or 12 laps to go.

“In the end I was just happy to keep the bike upright and not lose the front and crash. I’m really disappointed as I feel we easily had the pace for podium finishes, but it wasn’t to be.

“We have to review the weekend and reassess the problems we’ve had here and then come out fighting for round five at Imola in four weeks.”
