Haslam scoops fifth and 11th place finishes in Qatar

JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Leon Haslam gave the Pedercini team its best ever finish in the World Superbike Championship when he took fifth place in Sunday's final race of the 2016 series at the Losail circuit in Qatar.

"The team were over the moon with the result," said Hasalm. "Lucio Pedercini said they'd never been anywhere near a top five finish so the team were very happy.

"As a one off wild card ride it was OK and worked out and it was nice to see a lot of familiar faces again back in the World Superbike Championship paddock.

"We certainly had our issues over the three days but to go from a machine that wouldn't run properly in Friday's first practice to finishing in the top five made all of the work in between worthwhile.

"It's off to Japan next and Sunday's final race in the Japanese Superbike Championship at Suzuka, I'm really excited to be going back there after finishing runner-up in the Suzuka 8 hours race in July."
