Haslam looking for Dutch delight at Assen

JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Leon Haslam is aiming to close the gap to the lead of the series in Sunday's second Showdown action in the MCE British Superbike Championship at Assen in Holland.

“I’m really looking forward to heading to Assen, it’s a circuit I’ve ridden at regularly over the last few years so it’s nice going to a circuit knowing I don’t have to relearn it," explained Hasalm.

He continued: "Obviously the crash at Donington was disappointing, it was my first mistake of the year but annoyingly it came during the Showdown.

"Although we’re now a little way behind Shakey in terms of the Showdown, I’ve actually scored more points as a whole over the season so we know that we’ve got the pace to close him down.
"Assen is a fantastic circuit and always throws up good racing. I’m not approaching the weekend any differently and our goal is the same – to go out and win as many races as we can.

"It’s a really fast and flowing track which isn’t the best style for our bike but I’m confident we can still be fighting for the top step.

"Over the last few years, the weather has played quite a part for the BSB guys so hopefully it stays dry this weekend – but if not, we’ve won in both the wet and the dry this season so I’m ready.”
