Haslam scoops Suzuka 8 hours podium finish again

Kawasaki's Leon Haslam finished runner-up for the second successive year in Sunday's Suzuka 8 hour race in Japan.

Haslam was the first English rider to win the prestigiuos race, in 2013, and won again in 2014 before adding the two runner-up places, last year and in this year's event.

“It's nice to take a podium finish again but that was probably the toughest Suzuka 8 hours race I've had," said Haslam. "I knew I would have to ride for the best part of five hours but that really took its toll on me.

"After the race I was exhausted, my blood pressure was low and I was dehydrated so ended up in the medical centre on a drip - instead of celebrating the podium finish.

"It was as a hard race but I thoroughly enjoyed it and to grab a top three finish again is fantastic. We'll have a beer tonight then it's back to England for a Cadwell Park test on Tuesday then off to Thurxton for the BSB round next weekend."

Ends.
